"In the hearts of people today there is a deep longing for peace. When the spirit of peace is thoroughly dominant, it becomes an inner experience with unlimited possibilities. Only when this really happens-- when the spirit of peace awakens and takes possession of men's hearts, can humanity be saved from perishing."
--Albert Schweitzer

Albert Schweitzer was born in an Alsatian family, January 14th ,1875. Dr. Schweitzer went to Africa to do a lot of medical work, and was alive for both world wars. His quote means everyone wants peace; when it happens, peace takes over us and saves us from death. This quote was probably made because of the both world wars or being a medic. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952, but it was withheld that year, so he was awarded the prize of $33,000 on December 10, 1953. His work in Africa, such as donating thousands to some African hospitals, won him the Nobel Peace Prize.
