    John Lennon was born during a German bombing in WW II.  He became a pacifist, because he didn't like the bombings, so he didn't want to fight back.  His mom was killed by a speeding car. This made him see how violent life could be.

     On June 1, 1967,  the Beatles were formed.  He was a member of that group. John worked to write the songs that had the meaning of peace. He was singing his songs during the Vietnam war and his song Imagine had a big impact on people. He spoke out against the Vietnam War.  

    He married a Japanese princess named Yoko Ono. 

    His death was more shocking than the deaths of Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and other famous people.  He was shot right outside of his hotel.   

    I like John Lennon's music and I like that people took a phrase from his song and made it into a quote from the song Imagine.
